For the high-performance coatings chemist, the “Holy Grail” has always been decoupling cure speed from pot life. Traditional aliphatic polyurethanes offer UV stability but struggle with slow cure times at ambient temperatures. Conversely, standard polyureas offer rapid return-to-service but often react too quickly for standard application methods, requiring specialized plural-component equipment.

This is where polyaspartic technology, specifically the TERASPARTIC® line from Pflaumer Brothers… bridges the gap.

For formulators, these aliphatic polyurea systems offer a unique advantage: tunable reaction kinetics. By selecting the appropriate amine-functional resin, you can precisely engineer the reactivity profile of your coating system, achieving the robust film build and toughness of an epoxy with the UV stability of a high-end urethane, all while controlling the application window.

The Domestic Advantage: Consistency at the Bench

In formulation, raw material consistency is non-negotiable. Supply chain disruptions or batch-to-batch variance in imported resins can wreak havoc on your QC process.

Pflaumer Brothers manufactures the entire TERASPARTIC® line in the USA.

By controlling our manufacturing process domestically, we ensure that the amine value, viscosity, and color stability of our resins remain consistent batch after batch. This reliability allows you to scale from lab samples to full production with confidence.

The TERASPARTIC® Portfolio: Dialing in Your Reactivity

Whether you are formulating a high-solids garage floor topcoat, a direct-to-metal (DTM) industrial coating, or a UV-stable exterior finish, the TERASPARTIC® series provides the backbone you need.

Our product range is engineered to give you granular control over the working time vs. cure time trade-off:

1. The Fast-Track Solution: TERASPARTIC® 230

  • Target Formulation: Rapid return-to-service systems.
  • Profile: Designed for high-performance, low-VOC formulations where speed is critical. This is your choice for “one-day” install systems where the coating must be walkable within hours. It offers excellent hardness development while maintaining low odor.

2. The Balanced Workhorse: TERASPARTIC® 277

  • Target Formulation: General purpose high-performance coatings.
  • Profile: TERASPARTIC® 277 sits in the “sweet spot” of medium cure rates. It provides a slightly wider application window than the TERASPARTIC® 230, reducing the risk of roller marks in larger areas while still delivering a fast cure relative to traditional urethanes.

3. Extended Open Time: TERASPARTIC® 292

  • Target Formulation: Larger square footage projects or complex environments.
  • Profile: When your application requires a longer wet-edge, TERASPARTIC® 292 increases the working time significantly. It is ideal for formulations requiring improved flow and wetting over varied substrates (concrete, metal, composites) without sacrificing the aliphatic UV stability.

4. Maximum Flow & Leveling: TERASPARTIC® 295

  • Target Formulation: Self-leveling applications and high-aesthetic finishes.
  • Profile: This resin represents the latest in Pflaumer’s technology. It is engineered for ultra-low viscosity and extended working times – up to 50–60 minutes in properly optimized formulations. This extended pot life promotes extraordinary flow and leveling, allowing for a glass-smooth finish even in challenging ambient conditions. It also promotes superior flexibility in the cured film.

Versatility Across Substrates

Because TERASPARTIC® resins are aliphatic, they are compatible with a wide range of isocyanate hardeners (trimmers). This versatility allows you to formulate for:

  • Concrete: High-gloss, non-yellowing topcoats.
  • Metals: Excellent corrosion resistance and adhesion.
  • Plastics & Composites: Flexibility and impact resistance.
