Pflaumer Brothers Introduces TERAMINE® 72, a Fast-Cure, Benzyl Alcohol-Free Epoxy Hardener for Moisture-Critical and General Industrial Applications
Ewing, NJ – Pflaumer Brothers announces the introduction of TERAMINE® 72, a modified aliphatic, solvent-free amine curing agent designed to deliver exceptional moisture protection, chemical resistance, and fast cure performance in high solids epoxy systems. Developed for use with bisphenol A and bisphenol F epoxy resins modified with reactive diluents, TERAMINE® 72 provides formulators with a benzyl alcohol-free solution that adheres readily to both dry and damp concrete while maintaining excellent flow, leveling, and overall film appearance.
Moisture vapor transmission continues to be one of the most common causes of epoxy flooring failure. TERAMINE®72 was engineered specifically to address this challenge. When properly formulated, permeability ratings of less than 0.1 perms can be achieved, meeting the requirements of a Class 1 moisture vapor barrier under ASTM F-3010. Coatings formulated with TERAMINE® 72 reduce moisture migration, thereby improving resistance to moisture-induced degradation mechanisms such as blistering, delamination, and peeling. The result is longer-lasting flooring systems that reduce maintenance costs and enhance safety in industrial and commercial environments.
In addition to its moisture vapor barrier capabilities, TERAMINE® 72 offers fast-setting cure times at both ambient and low temperatures, often allowing for same-day return to service. Its low viscosity supports high solids and solvent-free formulations, enabling excellent substrate wetting and adhesion. Epoxy systems cured with TERAMINE® 72 exhibit high gloss, low color, good color stability, and strong resistance to chemicals and moisture, making it suitable for applications where both durability and aesthetics are important.
Beyond flooring systems, TERAMINE® 72 performs exceptionally well in internal linings for pipes, tanks, and containment vessels. Its resistance to chemical corrosion can extend the service life of industrial infrastructure, while its strong adhesion to metal substrates simplifies application and enhances long-term protection.
TERAMINE® 72 is for industrial use only. It can be formulated at a 2:1 volume ratio with epoxy resins, and its 38 phr value allows flexibility in adjusting final mix ratios. This gives formulators the opportunity to create high-performance, cost-effective alternatives to traditional epoxy coating systems while maintaining excellent application properties.
Key features of TERAMINE® 72 include:
- Excellent moisture and chemical resistance
- Ideal choice for Class 1 moisture vapor barrier systems under ASTM F-3010
- Adheres readily to dry and damp concrete and metals
- Fast-curing with potential same-day return to service
- Low-temperature curing capability
- High solids and solvent-free formulations
- High gloss with good color retention
- Low viscosity
